The rooms, beds, and sofa have been designed for long naps and deep slumbers. Discover the feeling of sleeping outdoors, without actually being outside, by observing the treetops and the stars through the high windows or by listening to the remains of a crackling fire in the fireplace. In the woods, sleep is always well deserved.
Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) is a Japanese term that alludes to immersing oneself in nature as a healing practice to attenuate stress and recover one’s energy. The art of soaking up the forest with the five senses, shinrin-yoku bridges the gap between us and nature.

The kitchen at heart
Whether you cook on a hot plate, the living room wood stove, or the embers of your campfire, everything has been designed for people to gather together, for meals to be made together, and for the best stories to be shared, inside and outdoors.

I took a walk in the woods and came out taller than the trees.
— Henry David Thoreau
Activities in the area
Nature has a lot to teach and offer us as long as we take our time. Trails are therefore designed to allow you to walk in the forest in any season. They also allow you to access two quiet lakes, a legacy for future generations — so that they too can bathe in great pines and cliffs, far from the road. Self-serve canoes and paddleboards are available on their shores so you can appreciate a sunset from the water. It’s only a thirty minute walk to your favourite swimming hole or viewpoint!

A long-term vision

BESIDE Habitat is a living environment where culture and nature meet. It’s a place where the transfer of knowledge is at the heart of the experience. Visitors will enjoy a cultural program including concerts as well as workshops that promote the exchange and transfer of knowledge through shared facilities rooted in the forest. When fully operating, this will also include 75 cabins, 25 pods, a large multi-functional pavilion, a music studio, two libraries nestled in the forest, and a workshop.
