What activities can I do on site?

BESIDE Habitat Lanaudière has 1,254 acres to explore, including a network of trails for hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. You can also rent boats on site to take out on McGuire Lake and Charlevoix Lake. There is plenty of space to get lost in, find silence, pick mushrooms, and fish for trout. On foot, in a canoe, or by snowshoe, you’ll be moved by the peacefulness of this vast area.

Can we walk to the lakes?

Yes, and it’s the only way to get to them. From the parking lot near the trailhead, give yourself about 30 minutes to walk. The scenery and the swimming — in season — are motivation.

Do I have to bring my own bedding?

No, leave all of that at home. The cabin is supplied with hypoallergenic comforters and pillows, polycotton sheets and pillowcases, and a towel set. Because we want to keep your “To Do” list as short as possible.

Can we cook on a barbecue?

Not quite. To spice up your life in nature, BESIDE invites you to rediscover cooking over a fire. So instead of a barbecue, we’ve provided cast iron pots and pans — along with tools that can be used over flames — because yes, everything tastes better when you cook it over your own campfire.

Do you provide firewood?

Yes. For all types of stay, you'll find two bundles of wood near the cabin, as well as marshmallow sticks. Note that a fee of $10 will be added to your bill for each additional bundle of wood used from the shed.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, dogs are the only pets allowed on site. However, the following conditions apply:

• All dogs must be kept on a leash and supervised.
• All waste must be picked up immediately.
• A $60 fee will be added to the cost of your stay.

Do you allow one-night bookings?

We created BESIDE Habitat so that you can experience nature. However, we believe your stay should be two nights minimum for you to have the best possible experience. This is our recommended dose of the forest.

What is the purpose of the security deposit?

It is simply a precaution in case items are damaged or broken. If everything is in good condition after your stay, you will be reimbursed 1 to 5 business days after the end of your stay.

How to redeem a gift card?

To reserve a cabin with your gift card, follow these steps:

1. Reserve your stay online. A deposit of 50% of the total value of the reservation will be preauthorized on your credit card.
2. You will receive a confirmation email. Please reply and provide your gift card number (HABITATXXXXX).
3. The value of the gift card will be subtracted from the final balance to be paid. If the amount of the gift card exceeds the balance to be paid, your credit card will be reimbursed the difference.

The gift card is valid for stays of a minimum of two nights at BESIDE Habitat. Not redeemable for cash value.
