LANAUDIÈRE

Located in the Lanaudière region, 1 hour from Montreal, the project allows the conservation of 900 acres of natural heritage. With its two clear lakes, its kilometers of trails, its peaks and its rock walls, it is a territory that invites exploration as much as contemplation.

Our approach

This is a bit like the ambition of this project, which is above all an approach: to create a place in nature that will bring people together — in an architectural framework that encourages creativity, the exchange of ideas and the creation of new traditions.

By imagining BESIDE homes, we aimed to go further than simply creating a destination in nature. We wanted to create a place where nature is highlighted by architecture and culture. A space for reflection, creation, meeting. A place where ancestral knowledge, new ideas and modern pioneers come together. Where we define ourselves by our experiences rather than by our exploits. Around the table, we invited architects, designers, anthropologists, biologists and thinkers, and asked them to imagine this different, unique place, at the junction of nature and culture.

Welcome to the first BESIDE Habitat destination.

Architecture

Our architectural vision is based on a balance between minimalism and anchoring in the landscape.

We create living environments that reflect our ability to adapt to the environment. We highlight the vegetation and topography specific to a territory by designing chalet models that are inspired by them. Lanaudière is the immensity of the forests and the conviviality of the people who live there.

It is a great diversity of innumerable lakes and an equally rich terroir. No homes are built around the lakes in order to preserve their raw beauty. A hike of 30 to 45 minutes is required to access them and enjoy the calm and solitude they offer us.

The land

BESIDE Habitat Lanaudière is a place where solitude rubs shoulders with gatherings – colleagues, families, friends, strangers. Where ideas are shared around a fire and a good glass of whiskey. A place to imagine new stories, while taking part in them!

Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) is a Japanese term that refers to immersion in nature as a healing practice to relieve stress and regain energy. Shinrin-yoku, this art of soaking up the forest with your five senses, acts like a bridge that bridges the void between nature and us.
