What’s the best time of year to visit BESIDE Habitat?
Each season at BESIDE Habitat offers something unique — it all depends on what you're looking for.

In the fall, the forest lights up with color, making it the perfect season for mushroom foraging or simply enjoying the fresh air on a hike.

Winter is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts: snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, cozy evenings by the fire, and that special quiet only a snowy forest can bring.

Spring is calm and peaceful. It's a great time to recharge, work remotely in nature, or slowly emerge from the winter blues.

Summer is made for swimming, long days outside, cooking over a fire, and spontaneous adventures.
How do I book a stay at a BESIDE destination?
All reservations are made through our secure external platform, Guesty. When you click “Book your stay” on our site, you’ll be redirected there.

If you’d like to use a BESIDE gift card for your reservation, just give us a call. Our team will be happy to apply it for you directly.
What kind of amenities and services are available during my stay?
All amenities are listed on each cabin’s booking page.
Please see our Cottages section for more details.
What activities can I enjoy during my stay?
A wide variety of activities are available at BESIDE Habitat.
Visit our Activities section to learn more.
Are BESIDE accommodations suitable for group bookings or corporate retreats?
Yes! Several of our cabins have multiple bedrooms, making them ideal for group stays or team retreats. Our main cabins for groups are: The Gale, The Down to Earth and The Shoal.

If you’d like to reserve multiple cabins near one another, we recommend calling us directly. That way, we can personally assist you and choose the best layout for your group.Planning a corporate retreat or have specific needs? Visit our Corporate FAQ section for more details.
Is firewood provided for the indoor and outdoor fireplaces?
Yes! All of our cabins are heated, so firewood isn’t necessary for warmth — but each unit has a wood stove to create a cozy atmosphere, and an outdoor firepit to enjoy evenings by the fire.

When you arrive, 10 logs will be provided inside the cabin. Additional firewood is available in the outdoor shed at a cost of $10 per bundle, billed after your stay. We also provide kindling and matches. Don’t forget to bring your own newspaper if you like an easy fire start!
Are pets allowed?
We only allow dogs in our cabins.

To make their stay as comfortable as yours, we provide two bowls, compostable waste bags, a towel to wipe muddy paws, and a guide outlining the house rules to help ensure a smooth experience for all guests.
Do you have BBQs?
At BESIDE Habitat, we invite you to cook over the fire instead of using a traditional BBQ. Each outdoor firepit is equipped with a rotating stainless-steel grill. Inside the mechanical room of each cabin, you’ll also find all the tools you need to cook safely and easily over the fire.

A few logs are provided inside the cabin, and additional firewood is available outside for $10 per bundle (approx. 6 logs).
Are the lakes close to the cabins?
The cabins are not directly on the waterfront.

However, all our cabins have access to a network of forest trails leading to beautiful lakes — perfect for swimming, relaxing, or heading out on a nature walk.

The first accessible lake is Lac McGuire, about a 40-minute walk from the trailhead entrance on Chemin Pékan. The trail starts with some stairs and has a gentle incline, with one short climb towards the end. Once there, you can swim, fish, or relax on one of the docks.

If you continue hiking on the same trail, you’ll reach Lac Charlevoix, where our complimentary watercrafts are available. Lac Charlevoix is about a 1.5h walk from the trailhead entrance on Chemin Pékan.
(50 minutes further than Lac McGuire.)

All cabins are less than a 3-minute drive from the trail entrance, and parking is available. If you'd like a cabin within 10 minutes' walking distance of the trailhead, contact our customer service team — we’ll be happy to help you select the right location.

For families, we offer child-carrying hiking backpacks upon request, delivered directly to your cabin before your arrival.

The most up-to-date trail map is available online.
Are the cabins family-friendly?
Yes! We’ve thought of everything to make your family’s stay simple and comfortable.

Upon request, we provide a travel crib (pack ’n play), high chair, booster seat, and stair safety gates.

For families who love to explore, we also offer child-carrying hiking backpacks.

Simply request what you need during booking, or contact our customer service team — we’ll have it all ready for your arrival.
What kind of electric vehicle charger is available?
We offer a Level 2 EV charger with a standard SAE J1772 plug, which charges faster than a regular household outlet.

If your vehicle requires an adapter, please bring it with you — we do not provide adapters on site.
What kind of internet connection is available?
All BESIDE cabins are equipped with high-speed fiber-optic internet. Each unit has Wi-Fi 6 with extended range that covers the entire cabin — perfect for remote work and video calls.
Are the cabins private and spaced apart?
Yes. Each cabin sits on a spacious 2 to 3-acre wooded lot, offering plenty of privacy and a deep sense of seclusion in nature. Surrounded by trees and thoughtfully spaced, it’s rare to ever see your neighbors.

If you have specific preferences regarding location or privacy, don’t hesitate to contact our customer service — we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Is the water in the cabins safe to drink?
Yes, the water in all our cabins is potable. It comes from artesian wells, which may give it a slight sulfur smell at times — but rest assured, it's completely safe to drink.

If you have any questions or concerns during your stay, our customer service team is here to help.
Are dogs allowed?
At the moment dogs are not accepted on the site and in our shelters. We are very fond of our four-legged friends, but we prefer to operate in this way while we slowly become more familiar with our facilities and the surrounding nature.
Do the cabins have a fireplace inside them?
Yes, all of our cabins and shelters have a wood fireplace available. Firewood can be found in the wood sheds near your cabin or shelter. Collecting wood from the forest is strictly prohibited.
Is it possible to make campfires on the site?
Outdoor wood fires are permitted at designated locations that have been landscaped according to site topology. All of our shelters have a private fire pit. Islet A of the Sylvestre Archipelago and islets A and C of the Éclaircie Archipelago have access to a private fire pit. The Summit and Sylvester Archipelagos have a common fire location.
What should I do with my waste?
We have several trash cans (green) and recycling bins (blue) near the parking lots. All waste must be placed and securely closed in bags. Unfortunately, we do not have composting since it attracts more attention from wild animals. Also take note that we do not recycle propane cylinders for individual camping stoves (butane, isopropane). Please drop them off at a local recycling center or store that accepts them.
Do you have showers?
There are 2 sanitary blocks at your disposal, located near the parking lots. They are also accessible on foot from the cabins and camping sites. It takes between 2 and 15 minutes from most shelters and camping sites to get there. These sanitary blocks are completely efficient, welcoming, and allow you to take a shower and use a toilet regardless of the season.
Is there any danger with the food and the wildlife?
Store your food in insulated boxes or in coolers, since cabins and shelters are not equipped with refrigerators. If you are camping, you can put your cooler box in the panoramic shelters. Please do not burn leftover food in the campfire, but rather put it in a bag and dispose them in the garbage can near the entrance.
What equipment is included with the cabin?
The shelters are equipped with a propane hob and essential dishes and kitchen utensils for 4 people (cauldron, frying pan, plates, etc...);
There is no running water, the sink tap is powered by a manual pump system connected to a 20L tank of drinking water;
The cabin has a dry toilet (outhouse) just outside. Sanitary blocks including showers and toilets are accessible within walking distance;
There is a solar panel which supplies the shelter with electricity (if the weather is good), it usually provides enough power for the lighting and electrical outlets for your small electronic devices;
Heating is exclusively provided by the fireplace inside the shelter;
There is a queen size mattress and a small single tatami type mattress. Bedding is not provided, you must therefore bring your own sleeping bags or blankets and sheets.
What amenities are included with a camping island?
You have access to a panoramic shelter, which is shared for the three camping islands of the archipelago. Near the camping archipelago you will find a dry toilet (outhouse) and a wood shed. The sanitary block is also at your disposal with showers and toilets. All camping islands have access to at least one common fire pit.
What are the amenities in a panoramic shelter?
The panoramic shelter is a common space that is available to all the occupants of the camping islands of the archipelagos. In it, you will find a kitchen counter, a picnic table, a fireplace and a large terrace allowing you to admire the landscape.
What are the check-in and the check-out times?
Arrival is from 3 p.m., we suggest you arrive before sunset; departure is scheduled for 11am.
What are the dimensions of the camping islands?
An island accommodates 1 tent only, they measure 12x12'.
What is the average distance to travel to the cabins and to the camping islands?
You will need to walk between 200m and 800m to get to your cabin or camping island, with an elevation change depending on the location.
Do you accept tent-trailers, campers or motorhomes on some of your campsites?
No, at the moment Territoire only offers rustic cabin or camping experiences.
Do you provide luggage carts?
During summer, a limited number of carts are available for everyone. In winter, we provide sleds for everyone to facilitate the transportation of equipment.
